Martin Maier Oak Slat Antique Trunk
4MS Antique Trunks brings you this outstanding and highly sought after Victorian Era Oak Slat Trunk. This unique trunk was made by Martin Maier & Co. of Detroit, MI. Martin Maier slat trunks are quite rare, and these bevel corner, flat top models are the scarcest of the styles. These trunks were referred to as the "Rustic" style in the Maier Trunk Catalog. The Basswood top, and Pine box is covered entirely with hardwood slats. Every other slat was stained dark to produce a very dramatic affect. This trunk has been carefully finished and clear coated with Tung Oil to bring it back to its former glory. The cast iron slat clamps are of Maier's own design, and proudly feature his initials. The patent (1879) combination corner hinges, and lid stays, are also Maier's own design. The solid brass lock has a spring loaded sliding keyhole cover, and a key is included. The trunk measures 30" long, 19" wide and 24" high. The interior is complete, and breathtaking. The interior includes a tray, trim, and the Maier label. You will not find the same quality or attention to this level of detail on any other trunk, at any price. Shipping is free. Thank you.
